Description
Vildagliptin 50 mg Tablets Uses
Vildagliptin 50mg tablet belongs to the group of antidiabetic medications called DPP-4 inhibitors. It is used to treat type 2 diabetes, particularly in patients whose blood glucose levels are not controlled through diet and exercise. It can be used on its own or in conjunction with other medicines. Type 2 diabetes is a long-term chronic disease that affects how the body metabolizes glucose. Type 2 diabetes can be dangerous if it is not in control and can cause several health issues. People who have Type 2 diabetes either don’t make enough insulin or their bodies are resistant to insulin. Insulin is a hormone that works by regulating the moments of sugar in the cells, the cells then respond to the insulin and consume less sugar. In type 2 diabetes condition the body stops or reduces the production of insulin, and this increases the consumption of sugar by the cells, resulting in high blood sugar levels. Most people with type 2 diabetes are middle-aged or older. Vildagliptin works by blocking the breakdown of a hormone called ‘incretin’ and increasing its production. This hormone is released immediately after a meal to help the pancreas produce insulin. Incretin increases the production of insulin, resulting in enough amount of insulin in the blood and proper control of blood sugar levels.
