Description

Voglibose & Metformin (SR) Tablets – VOGLIBOSE + METFORMIN belongs to the class of anti-diabetic drugs. It is used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Diabetes is a metabolic disease that causes high levels of sugar in the blood. It occurs when insulin (a hormone produced by the beta cells of the pancreas) is resistant to breaking down glucose for energy (insulin resistance) or when the pancreas produces a very low amount or no insulin. Voglibose and Metformin Hydrochloride Prolonged Release Tablets is a combination of two diabetes drugs, Voglibose and Metformin. Voglibose is allied to the class of alpha-glucosidase inhibitors. It works by interfering the intestinal enzymes, to break complex sugars into simple sugars (such as glucose). Thus, insulin helps in removing the sugar from the blood. Metformin PR releases the drug in lower doses over a longer time. It slows down the production of sugar by liver cells and reduces the absorption from the intestine.

How Does Voglibose & Metformin Hydrochloride Prolonged Tablet Work?

This medicine works by keeping blood sugar under control.

Voglilbose: Voglibose belongs to the class of alpha-glucosidase. It slows the absorption of glucose by obstructing the intestinal enzymes that break down complex sugars into simple ones such as glucose. This process prevents blood sugar from rising immediately after a meal.

Metformin: Metformin is a biguanide that reduces the production of glucose in the liver, slows the absorption of glucose from the intestine, and increases the body’s sensitivity to insulin.

Uses of Voglibose& Metformin Hydrochloride Prolonged Tablets

Voglibose and Metformin Hydrochloride Prolonged Release Tablets are commonly prescribed medications for managing type 2 diabetes. Here are their primary uses:

  1. Voglibose: Voglibose is an alpha-glucosidase inhibitor that lowers the postprandial (after meals) glucose levels in the body., which helps the body to use glucose efficiently. This medication is primarily prescribed along with a balanced diet and exercise to control blood sugar levels in people with type 2 diabetes.
  2. Metformin Hydrochloride: Metformin is an antibiotic drug that mitigates the amount of sugar production made by the liver and improves the body’s response to insulin. It also helps lower blood sugar by increasing glucose in muscle cells. Metformin is often considered the first-line treatment for type 2 diabetes and is often prescribed along with lifestyle changes such as diet and exercise.

When combined in an extended-release tablet, Voglibose and metformin hydrochloride work synergistically to regulate blood sugar throughout the day, providing more stable glucose levels and potentially reducing the risk of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) associated with other diabetes medications. When taking these medications, it is important to follow your doctor’s instructions carefully and check your blood sugar levels regularly.
